Remember that there are two sides to the hiring process: the business input and recruiting input. The key lies in understanding how each of them is performing — and how they are performing relative to each other.
HIRING PROCESS
BUSINESS INPUT
All things the business is responsible for. Includes assessing during interviews and making a decision on which candidate to hire.
+
RECRUITING INPUT
All things the staffing team is responsible for. Includes finding candidates, screening candidates, and negotiating with candidates.
STAGES OF HIRING PROCESS
Now imagine a recruiting team that has an overall hiring passthrough rate of 3% for a specific role.
Depending on its size, this could be considered a very good passthrough rate. But the overall passthrough rate doesn’t tell the full story. Without realizing it, your over-performing recruiting team may be compensating for an under-performing business unit.
Without the ability to understand how well both business and recruiting inputs are performing — and performing relative to each other — you’re unable to optimize your hiring workflow.
